How to connect to SmartThings on my Family Hub refrigerator?

SmartThings is an app that lets you control and manage smart home devices from your phone. You can monitor and control various devices like appliances, TVs, and speakers even when you're not home. It works with Samsung products and other IoT devices as an open-source platform.

Step 1. Checking the requirements for connection

Before connecting your smartphone with your air conditioner, ensure that the following requirements are met:

Step 2. Connecting your smartphone to the Wi-Fi network

  • On your smartphone: Tap Settings → Connection → Wi-Fi → Select a router to connect to (enter password when setting security)
  • When connected properly, the selected router in the current network is confirmed as "connected.”

Note:        

  • The router name (SSID) is set in English, symbols, and numbers (special characters are not supported).
  • 2.4 GHz connection is available when connecting an air conditioner to the Wi-Fi network.
  • At least 3 Wi-Fi network-receiving antennas should be displayed.
  • When connecting your home appliance to your smartphone with SmartThings, ensure both devices are connected to the same router.

Step 3. Installing the SmartThings app

  • Download and install the SmartThings app from the markets (Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Samsung Galaxy Apps).
  • To find the app, use the keyword "SmartThings.”.

Step 4. Setting up a Samsung account

  • You must sign into a Samsung account before using the SmartThings app.
  • To set up a Samsung account, you can follow the directions provided by the SmartThings app.
  • Or, if you have a Samsung smartphone, you can add your Samsung account in the settings app of your smartphone. Then, it will automatically sign into your Samsung account.

Steps for Android users

Open the SmartThings app and tap the '+' on the top right to add a device. Open the SmartThings app and tap the '+' on the top right to add a device.

Step 4. Scroll down and tap 'Refrigerator'.

Step 5. If your fridge has a QR Code, use the camera to detect it. Otherwise, tap 'Add without QR code'.

Step 6. Select 'Samsung'.

Tap 'Family Hub'. Tap 'Family Hub'.

Step 7. Tap 'Family Hub'.

'Settings' > 'Connections'. 'Settings' > 'Connections'.

Step 8. On the Family Hub™ display of your Refrigerator go to 'Settings' > 'Connections'.

Step 9. Select 'Easy Connection'.

Step 10. Then, tap 'Connect'.

Once detected, select your Family Hub™. Once detected, select your Family Hub™.

Step 13. Once detected, select your Family Hub™.

Step 14. Allow SmartThings to connect to your Family Hub™. If a pop-up appears, tap 'Connect'.

Select the Wi-Fi you want to connect your Family Hub™ to. Select the Wi-Fi you want to connect your Family Hub™ to.

Step 15. Select the Wi-Fi you want to connect your Family Hub™ to.

tap 'Done'. tap 'Done'.

Step 16. Edit the Location, Room, Device name, or set as favourite. Once finalised, tap 'Done'.
