[PC (Hong-Kong version) BIOS] BIOS Password & Screen Tips
When you set a boot password using the BIOS (settings utility), you can more safely guard against viruses and hacking attacks. You can also remove this password if you prefer not to use it.
• Note
- Incorrect BIOS settings may result in system malfunction, so be careful.
- The BIOS settings screen, menus, and items may differ depending on your computer model and BIOS version.
- The BIOS can be changed to improve features, etc.
- Do not forget the password you set or let another person see it.
- If you forget the supervisor password or HDD password you set, please contact a nearby Samsung Service Center to reset it.
• Tips for each type of password
※ To use a user password or HDD password, a supervisor password must be set.
- Supervisor password (low security):
This password must be entered when turning on the computer or entering BIOS settings.
- User password (low security):
This password must be entered when entering BIOS settings.
This password is automatically disabled if you do not use a supervisor password.
- HDD password (high security):
This password must be entered when another computer accesses the hard drive (HDD).
This password may not be supported on some computer models.
• Deleting a BIOS password
- If you forget your user password, disable your supervisor password to automatically disable your user password.
- Some models will show that a password has been entered in a Setup Notice window. You then need to click OK to finish setting it up.

- To use the Password on Boot option, you must set a supervisor password and enter this password when the computer starts.
- To change your HDD password, restart your computer.
- Some models will show that a password has been entered in a Setup Notice window. You then need to click OK to finish setting it up.
※ If you cannot select this item or you get an “HDD password frozen” message, restart your computer.
※ You can enter a password of up to 20 characters.
