What do I need to prepare for the transfer of my WhatsApp chat history from iOS to Galaxy device?
You should prepare the following information before transferring the data:
- Apple ID and password
- Screen lock password
- WhatsApp mobile phone number (same as iPhone)
- SIM card to receive SMS (same number of WhatsApp)
- A compatible USB cable (Lightning to USB-C or adapter)
- WhatsApp 2 step verification password
Which version of WhatsApp and Smart Switch are compatible?
Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data to get the latest versions of WhatsApp and Smart Switch:
- WhatsApp (Android): 2.21.16.20 or above
- WhatsApp (iOS): 2.21.160 or above
- Smart Switch (Android): 3.7.22.1 or above
Do I need to activate WhatsApp account in the new Galaxy device before transferring my chat history?
No. The WhatsApp chat history can only be transferred before activating in new device. If you have activated and login into WhatsApp account
before the data or chat history transfer, the chat history will not be able to transfer to new device. You may uninstall the WhatsApp in new device,
and start the transfer process again if you have problem.
Do I need to backup my data first before transferring data?
We suggest you to backup the data via iCloud or iTunes first before starting the transferring process. Once the iCloud Backup is completed, please
disable the iCloud Backup. (Setting > iCloud > iCloud Backup)
What should I do if I cannot receive SMS when I am activating my WhatsApp?
Please make sure the SIM card and mobile number are correctly inserted and can receive SMS messages for verification process. User may also
verify the following:
— One mobile number can only receive 3 times of WhatsApp verification SMS messages in a short period of time. After system sending over 3
times of SMS messages, the next verification SMS may be sent after 8 hours.
— The WhatsApp account in your iPhone should be in activated status before transferring the chat history.
— To avoid failure of receiving WhatsApp by redundant verification, we suggest you to reserve interval time in between every chat history
transferring.
Do I need to keep the screen on during the transfer process?
To make the transfer smooth, we suggest you to keep both devices’ screen on during the transfer process. You may adjust the screen timeout
setting before transfer. (Setting > Display > Screen Timeout)
Why does my transfer process take several hours?
The transfer process allows Smart Switch to sort and transfer all data in iPhone to avoid losing any data connected to WhatsApp. Therefore, the
transfer time may vary from the size of the data.
Why does my new Galaxy device showing “Insufficient Storage Available” even I only select to transfer WhatsApp chat history?
Smart Switch would sort and transfer all data in iPhone to avoid losing any data connected to WhatsApp. If the whole data size is bigger than the
storage space in new Galaxy device, it is possible to display “Insufficient Storage Available”. To avoid this, we suggest you to backup and delete
some files first before the transfer process.
