Guidance for users who are sensitive to certain materials
If your skin is exposed to soap or sweat for a long period or if you are in a certain environment, a hypersensitive skin reaction may occur. Refer to the information about the materials that the Galaxy Watch/Fit includes below if your skin is hypersensitive or if you have an allergy to any materials. Remove your Galaxy Watch/Fit from your wrist and consult a dermatologist if the skin where you wear the Galaxy Watch/Fit reddens or feels irritated.
Nickel
The Galaxy Watch/Fit’s main body and band buckles include stainless steel. Stainless steel is a non-corrosive metal alloy that consists of steel (Fe), nickel (Ni), and Chrome (Cr). Although it is widely used for everyday products, some people have an allergy to some of the materials included in it, such as nickel.
Samsung Electronics manages this by making the products with a smaller amount of nickel, which is below the point limited by the Europe REACH regulation. Also, we have found that users are barely exposed to any nickel based on analysis from a third party institution.
As you can see from above, it is highly unlikely that an issue related to nickel will occur. However, if you are allergic to nickel, be careful to prevent skin problems.
Acrylate
The Galaxy Watch/Fit’s main body and band include acrylate.
Acrylate (Methacrylic acid) are commonly included in consumer goods that are attached to the skin, such as plaster gauze. If you are sensitive to this material, be careful to avoid causing a hypersensitive skin reaction when using your Galaxy Watch/Fit for a long period.
Only materials that meet the standards of the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the regulations of European countries, and other international standards are used in the Galaxy Watch/Fit. When using materials not explicitly covered in the regulations, we work hard for your safety by continuously having our own internal wearing tests, noxious material tests, and skin toxicity tests for all materials that come into contact with skin in cooperation with domestic and external certificate authorities.
How to wear and clean
• For accurate measurement, you have to wear the Watch so that it fits your wrist. After measuring, loosen the band to allow air to reach your skin. It is recommended to wear the Watch so that it is not too loose or tight, and that it feels comfortable in normal circumstances.
• When you wear the Watch for a long time or do a high-intensity exercise while wearing it, skin irritation may occur due to certain factors, such as friction, pressure, or moisture. If you have been wearing your Watch for a long time, remove it from your wrist for a while to keep your skin healthy and allow your wrist to rest.
• Skin irritation may occur due to an allergy, environment factors, other factors, or when your skin is exposed to soap or sweat for long periods. In this case, stop using your Watch immediately and wait 2 or 3 days for the symptoms to ease. If the symptoms persist or worsen, call your doctor.
• Make sure your skin is dry before wearing your Watch. If you wear a wet Watch for a long time, your skin may be affected.
• If you use your Watch in the water, remove the Watch and foreign materials from your skin. Then dry them thoroughly to prevent the skin irritation.
• Do not use any accessories except the Watch in the water.
Make sure that the Galaxy Watch/Fit is not exposed to dust, sweat, ink, oil or any chemical products such as cosmetics, sunscreen, antibacterial spray, hand cleaner, detergent or insecticides. If your Galaxy Watch/Fit is exposed to any of the previously mentioned substances, use a lint-free, soft cloth to clean it. Do not use soap, cleaning agents, abrasive materials, other chemicals or compressed air when cleaning your Galaxy Watch/Fit, and do not clean it with ultrasonic waves or external heat sources.
Cleanse the band with clean water, and then thoroughly dry and clean the band with a lint-free, soft cloth.
