It’s time for an upgrade. If you’re looking to find the perfect refrigerator for your kitchen, by considering the following few questions will provide a good marker for what you should be looking for.
Which refrigerator size do I need?
Consider the space you have
Ready for a new fridge? First, think about the general space that is or will be available in your kitchen (or wherever you plan to place your refrigerators). Many times, measuring your kitchen space will be enough to figure out how big or what type of refrigerators you should get. But, don’t forget to give your measurements a bit of room, as you should also be considering how much space is needed around a refrigerators.
Consider the capacity you need
When it comes to fridge capacity or format, you need to consider your habits and needs. How much food does your family consume each week? Is it mostly frozen food or fresh produce?
We recommend assessing 3 key things:
1. Household size: The biggest impact to your capacity needs is the size of your household, and is that going to change in the near future.
2. Grocery shopping habits: How often do you go grocery shopping and do you need to store a lot at any given time? Consider your food consumption and storage patterns.
3. Frozen food vs. fresh produce: Depending on how you cook and what ingredients you use, you may need more space in the fridge or freezer or if it changes a lot consider getting a fridge with a convertible FlexZone™ compartment that can be used as both.
What size do refrigerators come in?
Large capacity Refrigerators
If you have a large family with 4 or more family members, the importance of a large fridge and/or freezer is self-explanatory. You cook and dine in more often, store more food at once, and shop for more various types of groceries to keep everyone happy. The larger the family, the larger and more important the fridge becomes. If you have plenty of kitchen space, consider a large fridge with various compartments and high quality features to make sure your family is getting the perfect meal every day.
Medium-Small capacity Refrigerators
For couples or small families, forward-thinking is key when choosing a fridge. Consider factors like energy efficiency, aesthetics, and spaciousness to accommodate potential family growth. Opt for a fridge no smaller than 700mm and look for features with long-term benefits. On the other hand, for singles or compact households, small fridge freezers, such as our SpaceMaxTM models, are essential. These slimline options maximise storage without compromising insulation performance. Ranging from Bottom Mount Freezers to one-door models, they offer capacities up to 500L. Always double-check dimensions to ensure a perfect fit in your kitchen space.
Small capacity fridges and freezers
Small fridges (also called as slimline fridges) are essential for single or couple households or for families that have limited kitchen spaces. If you’re looking for a fridge that maximises its size and can accommodate to your needs, we recommend looking for adjustable, foldable shelves and adjustable door guards so you can make the most of your space.

How to measure for a new fridge freezer?
Not sure how much space is needed around a new fridge freezer? Always check whether a refrigerator is going to fit into the space that is available by measuring the dimensions of the fridge freezer as well as your kitchen space carefully.
1. Width, Depth, Height
For exterior dimensions, it’s important to factor in the more forgettable components, such as handles, doors and compartments when fully opened, any bulkiness in the back, etc. If you’re positioning your fridge freezer next to a wall, leave 5~7cm on the hinge side of the door. If you’re fitting beneath a counter or low ceiling, make sure to measure for the height as well.
2. Measure the delivery path
Don’t forget about the delivery path. Numerous customers have reported having to return their purchased fridge freezers because they could not fit into their front door, elevators, or hallways. To prevent such unwanted returns, map out a route in advance that the fridge freezer has no problem passing through.
3. Ventilation space
When installing your fridge freezer, it’s critical to factor in for ventilation space to make sure your fridge doesn’t overheat. We recommend that you give 5~7cm of space on all sides, but make sure to give at least 2~3cm if you’re tight in space.
4. Island Kitchen
If you have an island kitchen, make sure that your fridge freezer is not obstructed by it at any point. Measure the dimensions of your fridge freezer in advance with all doors and compartments fully opened and compare to the actual space to prevent obstruction.
