Tips for taking clear close-up photos with Galaxy phones
When you use a Galaxy device’s camera (particularly the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5, and the Galaxy Z Flip5 phones) to take close-up photos of subjects such as food, flowers, or documents, the area around the subject may appear blurry or fuzzy. Here are some tips on how to take better photos with your phone camera.
Adjust the low-light environment brightness
The rear wide-angle camera on some Galaxy devices has a bright aperture to help you take brighter photos in darker environments (low light). The brighter the aperture, the more pronounced the out-of-focus effect, where even a small distance from the subject makes the surroundings look blurry. Galaxy phone models with bright aperture include the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, etc.
Distance makes a difference
The distance between you and your subject when snapping the perfect photo can make a big difference. Follow the suggestions below to get a better close-up picture.
Step back slightly to increase the distance between you and your subject, and then use the zoom feature to magnify your subject.
Utilise the ultra-wide-angle camera.
- On the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold5: Navigate to and open the Camera app and tap 0.6x.
- On the Galaxy Z Flip5: Navigate to and open the Camera app and tap 0.5x.
For subjects that are within 30 cm (12 inches), try moving back about 2.5 cm (1 inch).
For full-body portraits, take one step back.
Adjust your angle
Angles can create interesting photos; but if you do not want blurred surroundings, angling your Galaxy device’s camera is something you need to avoid. Instead, try taking the photo vertically, which can help mitigate blurring around the subject.
