SmartThings Motion sensor isn't reporting or is stuck

If your Samsung SmartThings Motion sensor isn't reporting or is stuck on motion or no motion detected, follow these steps:

The sensor may be out of range. Move it closer to the Connect Home, or extend the range of your Zigbee network using repeaters

Check that the battery is not drained and is firmly seated within the casing. If the battery level is low, replace it (1 CR-2477)

Delete the sensor
On Samsung SmartThings home screen, tap Motion Sensor > tap More (3 vertical dots on the top right) > Edit > Delete device
On Samsung SmartThings home screen, tap Motion Sensor > tap More (3 vertical dots on the top right) > Edit > Delete device

Reset the sensor
a. To re-add Motion Sensor, tap + on the home screen > Add Device > SmartThings > Motion Sensors
b. While the Connect Home is searching, hold down the Connect button on the Motion sensor for 5 seconds
c. Release the button when the LED light starts blinking red. The LED should blink green three times when it connects to the Connect Home
