[2022] How to install apps and manage downloaded apps on your Samsung TV
You can enjoy various content, including video, music, sports and game apps by installing apps to your TV. Keep reading to learn how to install apps, and how to troubleshoot a TV app if it does not appear or becomes slow and unresponsive.
Install apps and add it to the Home Screen
Follow the steps below to install apps and add it to the Home Screen.
Note: Video and Media apps will be added to Media Home, and Game apps will be added to Game Home.
Follow the steps below to move apps on the Home Screen.
Step 1. From the Apps list, scroll to the end of the Apps list and select List Edit. Navigate to the app you would like to move, then press the down directional button on your remote control.
Step 2. From the Options menu, select Move. Use the left or right directional buttons to move the app to the desired location, then press the Select button.
Note:
- You can also place the focus on the app you would like to move and long press the Select button to move it to your desired location.
Follow the steps below to remove apps from the Home Screen.
Step 1. Select List Edit, located at the end of the Apps menu.
Step 2. Place the focus on the app you would like to remove, then press the down directional button on your remote control.
Step 3. From the Options menu, select Remove.
Step 4. The selected app will be removed from the Home Screen list.
Note:
- You can also place the focus on the app you would like to remove and long press the Select button to remove it.
Follow the steps below to delete or Lock (Unlock) apps.
Step 1. Select Settings from the Apps screen. You can manage your installed apps.
Step 2. Select the app you would like to Delete/Lock (Unlock).
Step 3. If you select Delete, the selected app will be deleted.
Step 4. If you select Lock or Unlock, the selected app will be locked or unlocked. If the Lock function is enabled, a Lock icon will appear on the app icon.
Note:
- If the app is deleted, it will be removed from the Home Screen and all data related to the app will also be deleted.
- Pre-installed apps cannot be deleted, so the Delete function may be disabled.
- You must enter a PIN to lock or unlock an app. The default PIN is 0000. You can set your PIN by navigating to Menu > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > System Manager > Change PIN.
If you did not agree to the Terms and Condition upon initial installation, only the Apps tile will be displayed on the Home Screen, and the Apps List will not appear.
If you press the Apps tile, a pop-up will appear prompting you to agree to the Terms and Conditions. After agreeing, the Apps List will be displayed.
If a TV app becomes slow or unresponsive, try resetting Smart Hub and reinstall the app.
Step 1. Press the Home button on your TV remote control, then select Menu.
Step 2. From Menu, navigate to Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub.
Step 3. Enter your PIN. The default PIN is 0000.
Note:
- Resetting Smart Hub will reset all Smart Hub settings, downloaded apps, and accounts stored on your TV.

- If you are having trouble with your Samsung TV, you should always check to see if there are any software updates available as these may contain a fix for your problem.
