Find Out What is a Set-Top Box (STB) Device For Your TV?
A set Top Box (STB) is an electronic device, similar in size and shape to a VCR, that tunes into, receives and decodes HDTV signals.
HDTV signals can come from over-the-air broadcasts, digital satellite, or digital cable.
There are four kinds of STBs:
• HDTV tuners - tune in, receive, and decode free over-the-air HDTV and DTV signals with an antenna
• DirectTV receivers - tune in, receive, and decode digital satellite signals with a satellite dish
• All-in-one receivers - tune in, receive, and decode both over-the-air and digital satellite HDTV and DTV signals. All-in-one receivers require both a satellite dish and an antenna
• Cable HDTV receivers - tune, receive, and decode digital cable signals
